Biography

Deborah Lydia Neil was born in 1883 to John Henry and Eliza Jane Neil in Monroe County, Iowa, as the youngest of three siblings. Neil’s father died a year after her birth, and her mother remarried in 1891 to William Henry Anderson. In 1903, Neil married George Washington Scribner with whom she would have five children. The Scribners would move to a farm south of Eddyville, Iowa, following a fire that destroyed their first home. George passed away in 1947, and Deborah continued to live in Eddyville until her death in 1976.
