Seven Elements from S.O.M.B.A. / Fahlstrom, Oyvind., 1974
This print deals with worldwide political concerns as well as artistic autobiographical issues through hand printed texts incorporated into discrete, vividly colored anthropomorphic shapes on an unprinted white background. "To me, it is important to demonstrate that heavy art (not cartoons, etc) and critical/concerned art can be one; as an artist, you are paid with surplus money (stolen from the workers)." This print was part of 9 others by Fahlstrom published by multipla editions. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
[Shakespeare, His Maze] / Furnival, John., 1976
The calligraphic text at the bottom of the work reads, "Shakespeare, his maze, His Queen, the Lord Southampton, & the dark lady, with the gestures of Rhetorick." Each of the above mentioned is pictured in the print. Several of these elements are present in the drawing on wooden board held in the Sackner Archive. Stored in Odds & Sods. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
Shakespeare, His Maze / Furnival, John., 1978
The maze is composed of large letters in which the Lord of Southampton, the dark lady and the Queen are standing. A portrait of Shakespeare is drawn within a pyramid. Beneath that is an alphabet of hand signs. The imagery is taken from the drawing, "The Dark Lady" that is held by the Sackner Archive. This print is depicted on page 84 of Furnival's book "The Locative-Vocative Cases" (2012) -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
