Ovcacek was one of the founding members of the Czech movements of concrete poetry and Lettrisme in the 1960's, and was an initiator of "Lettristic Photography." His work was inspired by letters, pictogrammes, symbols of zoomorphy and anthropomorphy, ideograms and the human figure.
