Scope and Contents As with "The George Book" held by the Sackner Archive, Goswell has created another timeless impression of the American political scene with leanings toward the left. The collage consists of six hinged panels done in an accordion style. The technique of making the collage is reminiscent of the paste-ups of Jesse Collins. Proceeding from left to right, the following images and texts are presented among others: 1) Nixon rising from his coffin, 2) Rick Santorum, senator from Pennsylvania in priest's garb because of his anti-abortion stand, 3) The Allegheny National Forrest, an ancient old growth forrest near Erie where recently logging has been proposed, 4) Dole and a list of political contributors with rewards they received including Julio Gallo, Archer Daniels Midland, 5) unflattering images of politicians of the Christian right, 6) Bill Clinton with an inked epithet reading "I am the Lord Jesus Christ + I will solve all your problems + Believe in me," 6) announcement of the sale of...

The title is derived from a line by Antonin Artaud. Hirschman states "This book focuses on gesture of line, color, and letters. There's a poem and then there's not a poem in this book.
