Scope and Contents
The 100 Grannies records date from 2011 to 2020 and measure 21 linear inches. The collection is arranged in three series: Administration (2011-2020), Activities (2012-2018), and Photographs (2012-2016).
The Administration series documents the groups formation, their mission, by-laws, membership information, and meeting notes. Also included are an arrest record for member Rebecca Ann Hall and political correspondence.
The Activities series consists of newspaper clippings and opinion articles written by members, as well as flyers and handouts from events. The series also contains “Granny Green’s Thankful Book,” which was written and illustrated by members; a video recording of the “Little Red Riding Hood with 100 Grannies and Perry Ross” story-time they performed at Iowa City Public Library in 2013. Artifacts and a scrapbook dating from 2012 to 2014 complete the series.
The Photographs series contains photos of protests and events that members attended and organized. These events include Build Our Energy Barn, the Great Trash Bash, and the Mississippi Stand.
