Biographical / Historical
The DRA (Deutscher Reichsausschuss für Leibesübungen, or German Reich Committee for Physical Exercise) was created in 1913 and initially awarded only to men for their successful completion of various fitness tests. Women were made eligigble as well in 1921. The three grades (gold, silver, and bronze) were awarded based on the number of consecutive years a candidate had completed the annual tests.
