This is a manuscript for a book edited by Fred Schwengel and Russell M. Ross, but apparently it was never published. It includes essays by the leading Republicans of the 1960s and 1970s, which were usually published in the periodical press before being anthologized here. Schwengel had a speech that he delivered containing these same ideas, called A Case for the Moderate. See box 604. For correspondence about the book, see box 635.
