The four books making up this exhibition catalog, which in itself can be classified as an artist book, comprise the topics, Sculpture, Artist and Process, Related Objects, and Bookworks. The latter includes Marvin Sackner's critical essay, "Who Says Thirteen Is Unlucky?" The dedication reads, "to Marvin Sackner - The Ruth and Marvin Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry MIAMI USA - whose colossal collection, stockpiled over many obsessive years guarantees that this form of poetry beloved of many dedicated exponents world-wide will in all good time become visible." The first page provides Claire's definition of concrete poetry repeated 4 1/2 times on the page. Eric Stephan contributes an introductory essay, in German and English, that points out Zylla's debt to Charles Bukowski and Jean Dubuffet. Jorn Merkert writes about Zylla's working methods. In the colophon, Gallo mentions that the production of this book was made possible in part due to a grant from the Sackner Archive. The binding was done by Daniel Kelm. Each page has a single poem that was printed letterpress or from plates generated thru Alphatype or Postscript applications. La Prose du Transsiberien et la Petite Jehanne de France (facsimile) / Delaunay, Sonia ; Cendrars, Blaise ; Sackner MA ; Sackner RK., 2008
This is a facsimile of the artist's book originally published in 1913, made after an original copy in the collection of the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University. The original copy was purchased from the Sackner Archive. This edition also includes a new English translation and essay by curator Timothy Young in an accompanying book. The facsimile was reproduced from scanned images of the original and printed on Mohawk Superfine Ultrawhite Eggshell 100 text. It was letterpress scored, then hand folded like the original and assembled. The slipcase was base on the original vellum cover, which was hand-painted by Sonya Delaunay and glued to the text block.
