Houedard in his introduction states that this is the first lecture (concrete poetry) delivered in the English speaking world. He presents an extensive critical analysis of Gomringer's poems including "Avenidas," "Silencio,"etc. and DeCampos poetry. Calligrammes were inspired by Mallarme's "Un Coup De Des" as well the music of Webern. He discusses the basis for Ultra-Lettrisme and Sound Poetry and provides a chronology for Sound Poetry. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

This book without the drawing was published as Lettrisme New Series No.24, August 1971. The latter is also held by the Sackner Archive. The records are the first in a series "Anthologie Sonore de Lettries dites par leurs auteurs." A description of the contents of the records is given. Isadore Isou contributes a text ,"Le Lettrisme et l'esthetique infinitesimale devant la poesie et la peinture." The drawing consists of calligraphic markings and hieroglyphics additions to a printed fragment of wallpaper that depicts a classical art scene of a goddess dictating to a scribe. The drawings in the two copies of this book differ in the ink additions to the wallpaper pages which are themselves identical. A printed page that reproduces a handwritten text of Maurice Lemaitre describes the history of the records. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
