Canal Street is the title of a series of 50 "sound collages" composed in the 1970's. Each pice blends phrases from the documentation that accompanies the communication devices bought on Canal Street NYC. Each "sound collage" was printed in wood cut type by Gianni Bertini. The five hand colored etchings were made by Bertini.There is water damge to the ouside margin og the pages that has not affected the images. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

Francois Woimant who contributed an essay writes, "...The French National Library's Cabinet des Estampes contains one of the largest public collections of artists' books in the world, second only in size to that held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. ... today totals approximately 4000 works." Each book begins with page 1 at the end, an original calligraphic or visual drawing by each artist. Then from rear to front, each drawing is slightly altered as an abstraction, page by page by Adamczewska, so that on the final page at the front of the book, the original contribution has evolved into a total abstract drawing. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
